SPECIAL EVENTS Green Carpet 7:00 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2009 Outside Englert Theatre For Landlocked's first-ever red carpet event, we've decided to make it a green carpet event in recognition of our very green state - both in terms of the emerald-green color of Iowa in summer and in terms of the community commitment to green initiatives. Hosted by KSUI's Joan Kjaer, the green carpet will welcome audiences and filmmakers to Landlocked, and in particular the director and stars of 16 to Life and the director and producer of Alliancen. Midwest Premiere of 16 to Life 7:30 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2009 Inside Englert Theatre 16 to Life started out as Duck Farm No 13 when Becky Smith submitted the script to our competition in the first Landlocked ever in 2007. The State of Iowa passed the film promotion act that year, and in the next, filming of the script started in McGregor and nearby areas in Iowa. Now, the movie is a reality. Its world premiere at MethodFest broke attendance records. Let's do the same for it here in Iowa City! Danish Film Program 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2009 Inside Englert Theatre Landlocked's first international guests will attend the 2009 festival, introducing their own psychological thriller, Alliancen, to heartland audiences. The program includes even more new Danish films, including a feature documentary, several shorts, and animated films. We are thrilled to welcome Ask Hasselbalch and Sonny Lahey to our town. |
